Health Fairs/Seminars

AAHI hosts and/or participates in Health Fairs/Seminars throughout the year in various Asian American communities. Please see the list below to find out where AAHI will be next.

The Asian American Health Initiative conducts a variety of different health activities/outreach events in various Asian communities in Montgomery County, Maryland. In collaboration with community and faith-based organizations, AAHI provides health education and screening services to community members at these health fairs (Click here to view the list of community and faith-based organizations).

With the help of bilingual health promoters, AAHI delivers health services in a cultural and linguistic manner. AAHI provides education materials on cancer, hepatitis B, diabetes, osteoporosis, and tobacco cessation. All education materials are translated and are culturally and linguistically appropriate to each ethnic group. In addition, AAHI also offers free screening services on bone density, carbon monoxide, and blood pressure. In conjunction with Montgomery County Cancer Crusade and Women’s Cancer Control Program, AAHI recruits eligible Montgomery County residents for free cancer screenings for the four targeted cancers (breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal) – (See eligibility requirements).

Event: Multicultural Cancer Conference
Location: Holy Cross Hospital, Professional and Community Education Center
Time: 8:30AM-1PM
Services Provided: Join us for a conference about the effects of cancer in our ethnically and racially diverse communities. Presentations will have simultaneously interpretation in Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Hindi. To register call 301-757-8800 (free registration).
